does anyone else realize how dystopian this reality is? met gala tickets were $75,000 dollars while there are people in palestine and isreal having their lives end because of war. it costs barely a fraction of a met gala ticket to keep children from starving. this is literally the hunger games. whitewashing is racist because people of colour had to go through a lot to get those mere crumbs of representation in media. everyone finds it great when there's a character that looks like them on TV. but there are almost no poc characters with personalities that aren't stereotypical. if there isn't enough representation already, why would you whitewash a poc character?? on the other hand, blackwashing characters is less bad because it's just poc making the representation they deserve for themselves. i said "less bad" because it really depends on the character being blackwashed, since if you blackwash an anime character, for example, it could be considered taking away asian representation.
